:: Arcos de la Frontera

Arcos is an old Arab town and one of the best Pueblos Blancos in the region. The Old Town's cluster of white houses dramatically tower over the valley below. Arcos has a good share of our favorite things: spectacular vistas and quaint narrow streets.

Almost there...

The Old Town was a long trek uphill from the bus station!

Pueblos Blancos

The houses were gleaming white against the deep blue sky

Whitewashed?

The houses are not whitewashed but are painted regularly.

Flying butresses

These prevented the main church from collapsing during the great 1755 earthquake

Wallflowers

These serve as the front yards for Arcos houses

Balcon de Arcos

A breathtaking view off the main square of Plaza Cabildo

Calle Cuna

Reportedly one of the most picturesque streets in Arcos with a view of the valley

Photo op

The window sills were handy for taking our picture:)

Mirador de Abades

Another great lookout point

Sumptuous tiles

The train station was studded with beautiful tiles which Andalucia is known for
