Tagaytay Out of Towners

:: Antonio’s

For the past two years, we have been happily celebrating our anniversaries in this gem of a restaurant. We knew this place was special when the kind owner took time to warmly greet his guests.

Tables are freely located within the beautiful garden (our favorite tables are the ones by the fish pond) which you can wander around in, very nice to do after a full meal to allow some space for dessert. And the food is bon apetit! We fell in love “at first bite” with the fresh salad dressed with raspberry vinaigrette. Our treasured mains are the delectable sea bass and the perfectly cooked angus steak. And we can’t help but give a special mention to the airy, majestic toilets! The place makes you feel you were specially invited to a beautiful vacation house owned by someone who is passionate about cooking the finest food.

:: Breakfast At Antonio's

Yes, we are kind of groupies of Antonio since our next favorite is the 2nd restaurant he set up. For the ultimate brunch, head for the white house with a beautiful view of Taal. Breakfast is served all day and the great food makes you wish every meal was breakfast. It’s more laid back than the original Antonio’s, but items on the menu are just as special. Our favorites are the corned beef, steak roesti and one of a kind fruit smoothies. We can’t wait for Antonio’s next ventures, Antonio’s Grill (near Starbucks also in Tagaytay) and something brewing near Caleruega.

:: Kusina Salud

For our 39th month anniversary, we took a peaceful drive through the countryside to Kusina Salud, housed in the country home of renowned designer, Patis Tesoro (who also designed the resto). The restaurant serves up hearty Filipino comfort food. We feasted on the unique salad, yummy adobo, sinful lechon kawali (they were extra fatty, extra crispy and extra delicious!) and finished off with a sweet sans rival. Not only was the food ooh la la at affordable prices, but also the cozy feel of the interiors and lush surrounding garden made us feel that the two hour drive to the place was absolutely worth it. We loved the place so much that we took so many pictures and made the staff worry that we were doing an unauthorized commercial pictorial! Don’t miss the creek at the back and the nice store at the front. Kusina Salud is indeed lovely and we can’t wait to go to Baguio to visit her older sister, Bistro Salud.
